From The Pastor

Rev Orrett McFarlane

Praise the Lord! I am truly grateful for this opportunity to serve as your pastor. My
aim and conviction is to be a true representative of the Lord Jesus Christ. I
intend to preach and teach the word of God at every opportunity; this is the primary ministry of the pastor. I hope that I can tend to the flock based on my gifts and ability. Everything is possible through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Make prayer to God a daily part of your life. Do all that you can to promote the faith by inviting people to Christ. Make praise not a Sunday experience but a daily reality by learning to live the Christian life. Be an ambassador to help other members become consistent in their faith and diligent leaders in the church. I strongly believe that this is a divine requirement from God to bring about restoration and direction.

God has blessed our congregation through very trying times. I heard someone say, “The storm is passing.” I must agree. However, whether in a storm or a time of
sunshine, we must remain focused on our Lord Jesus Christ. The beauty of coming
through a dry spell is being able to store up for the next storm. When we store up and keep building, we can weather future storms without having a drought. This is based on the time when Israel had seven years of famine, yet God still made provisions for His people.

Let us do all that we can to serve the Lord and work together to strengthen our
congregation. We are a team for Christ. If everyone does their part, our congregation will be stronger and better for service. May we further our outreach by encouraging family, friends, and strangers to maintain their commitment to the Lord and His church.

May God richly bless you.

Bishop Hastings

Our UEMO Port Charlotte History

With exuberant praise and boundless appreciation, United Evangelical &
Missionary Outreach (UEMO) Church celebrates thirty-seven years of
serving God and the communities. Under courageous and visionary
leadership and unwavering obedience to God’s plan for UEMO, we have
accomplished far more than we could ever fathom. Yet, God still has a
spectrum of work remaining for us to do. We are deeply honored by God’s
unique calling to us and his esteemed blessings that have flowed
ceaselessly since thirty-seven years ago.

UEMO’s humble beginnings stretch back to September 1980 when
Reverend Arthnel Lloyd Hastings moved to Port Charlotte with his family
from UEMO Brooklyn, New York. After two years of living in Port Charlotte,
Bishop Hastings began a successful home-based Church with members
who are still present with us today. The church expanded and was later
dedicated as our original UEMO Port Charlotte Sanctuary in 1987.

Expanding on the vision of a greater UEMO Ministry, Bishop Hastings and
congregation were able to complete and dedicate this current Sanctuary in
2006. Bishop Hastings was later installed as the first Bishop of the UEMO.
While there have been difficulties and times of great testing along the way,
we have seen miracles of God’s provision, power, and protection! God truly
is good all the time, even when we do not understand His ways.

In June of 2009, Bishop Hastings relinquished his leadership due to health
issues and he appointed Reverand Basil O. Khaleel as Pastor. Rev.
Khaleel served as Assistant Pastor of UEMO Brooklyn for three years and
Bishop Hastings’ Assistant for nineteen years.

Rev. Khaleel served as Pastor of UEMO Port Charlotte for thirteen and a
half years. In January 2022, due to health reasons, he resigned from the
pastorship. With a recommendation from the overseer and the approval of
the congregation, in January 2023, Rev. Orrett McFarlane was appointed
as interim pastor of the UEMO Port Charlotte branch. Pastor McFarlane
served as an Associate Minister in UEMO Port Charlotte for seventeen
years and Secretary of the UEMO Executive Organization for three years.

When Hurricane Ian struck in September 2022, our current church building
was destroyed; we had to return to the original church building for services.
Thanks be to God for the relentless work and dedication of Pastor
McFarlane, saints, and volunteers. We have rebuilt better and stronger
than before, not just physically but also spiritually. Under the leadership of
Pastor McFarlane, God was able to restore our building to a more beautiful
edifice than it was before. The sanctuary was rededicated on August 5th,
2023 for the continuance of God’s work, “To present a living Christ to a
dying world, to provide hope through The Word and Spirit of God, and to
help the needy as the Lord enables us.”

Here at UEMO Port Charlotte, we are a Church for all people, fundamental
in our beliefs, and charismatic in our worship. With over thirty-seven years
at this current location, God has truly blessed this Church with the assets
needed to reach out to the community, and we have seen many lives
transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Pastor McFarlane envisions a church where God and His Word is the
number one focus. A united church where people are treated with love and
respect is vital to spiritual and numerical growth.

On July 13th, 2024, Rev. Orrett McFarlane was installed as the senior
Pastor of the United Evangelical & Missionary Outreach, Port Charlotte
Florida.

The UEMO Church Family is inviting you to "Come Grow with Us," and
experience the greatest miracle that God performs on planet earth: "The
New Birth Experience.”
